OVERSEAS (2000)

The winner of the Best Limited Series Prize awarded by the International Documentary Association and broadcast by leading channels such as Satellite (France), RTP (Portugal) and Channel 4 (UK), Overseas explores the legacies of the Portuguese empire on four continents. After three years of research guided by anthropologist Hermano Vianna, Overseas features interviews with specialists such José Saramago and Nobel Peace Prize winner José Ramos Horta. Through language, culture and faith, this documentary recounts the experiences of ordinary people in Portuguese-speaking regions of India, China, Indonesia and Africa, as well as Portugal and Brazil, of course.
